HOME THERMOSTAT FIRM Nest has announced a number of updates to the Works with Nest programme, including a new protocol that allows any existing connected home devices to work together from the Nest app.
This new communication protocol is Nest Weave. Previously used only in Nest products, Weave lets devices talk directly to each other and to Nest products while solving problems associated with connecting products in the home, including connecting power-constrained devices and those that require low latency and redundancy.
Nest said that Weave provides direct device-to-device communication securely and reliably across networks in the home, including WiFi and Thread.
