Old and current versions of Android are affected by a peculiar bug in the way the OS calculates storage space usage on mobile devices. Android specialist Mishaal Rahman, who discovered the issue earlier this year, noted that even in the upcoming Android 14 release, the way Android calculates the storage space taken up by the OS “system” files remains completely flawed.
The way Google’s operating system calculates “system” files is utterly illogical, as explained Twitter/X. When new files are added to a smartphone’s integrated storage, Android categorizes them as part of the “system” folder if they can’t be placed in other categories like images, videos, documents, and so on.
