There are a lot of salesmen on the internet peddling digital snake oil for your Windows computer, and they’ve been at it for years. Microsoft has finally decided that it’s time to fight back.
The company has spoken out before about tools like registry cleaners and their potential risks. This week, however, WinBeta spotted an update from the crew in Redmond over on their Malware Protection Center blog. While they do discuss the pros and cons (emphasis on the cons), the big news is that they’re now classifying many of these apps as malware.
