Apple Buys Popular Dark Sky Weather App, Will Kill API Next Year

Apple has done it again. The iPhone maker scooped up a beloved mobile application with plans to fold it into its own offering. Dark Sky sells for $3.99 and is popular due to its hyper-local forecasts. It’s important to point out that the app is popular not only with iPhone owners but also with Android owners. Those Android-loving folks are none too happy about Apple’s plans for Dark Sky.

Once the news posted to Dark Sky’s blog, Apple pulled the app from the Google Play Store. That’s it.
