MICROSOFT HAS snapped up another Android lockscreen in the form of Echo, an app that allows access to extra information without unlocking the phone.
The app joins Next, a creation of Microsoft’s Garage division, which offers similar functionality. Next provides active notifications and intelligent contextual app icons directly from the lockscreen to give access to instant data without having to unlock the phone.
However, it also puts ads in the mix unless you buy them away. Eww.
Microsoft has been on something of a spree with Android apps in the past year. The firm launched dedicated Office apps for Android, and has bought calendar app Sunrise and to-do app Wunderlist.
